Good Omens Wiki

Hell's Usher is a minor character in the Prime Video series Good Omens. He is an unnamed Demon who serves as an usher during the trial of Crowley.

Significance in series[]

"The Very Last Day of the Rest of Their Lives"[]

This little demon serves as an usher during the trial of Crowley, showing Beelzebub, Hastur and Dagon their seats. He also announces that the trial will start with the evidence against Crowley and with the accused demon's destruction.

As Crowley is seen guilty, he is sentenced to death by Beelzebub and the archangel Michael arrives with Holy Water. The demons want to know whether the water is real or not, and Hastur decides to test it by grabbing the usher and throwing him into it.

Before his death in the water the little demon asks what he had done wrong and Hastur replied "wrong place, wrong time". He then dissolved in the bathtub filled with Holy Water.

Appearance[]

Unlike most other demons, the Usher appears as a small, obese, gargoyle-like creature. He has scales, claws, a tail, and small membrane wings. He holds a staff with a small ram skull attached to it. There is a red, stained sash with two visible badges around his body.

Notes and trivia[]

  • This demon appears in the opening credits but appears only in the final episode of the first season.
  • There is a drawn version of him in Shadwell's book in "The Very Last Day of the Rest of Their Lives", only this version has yellow glasses.
  • The silver badge on his sash resembles an Iron Cross, which was a military decoration in the Kingdom of Prussia, the German Empire, and Nazi Germany.[1]
  • Hamilton had been in a similarly animated role as the character "Small Hairy" in the movie MirrorMask back in 2005, which Neil Gaiman has mentioned in a Tumblr ask.[2]
